On September 11, 2026, the Winnipeg Chilean Association held its annual remembrance of the coup that overthrew the democratically elected government of Salvador Allende on September 11, 1973. The event took place in Winnipeg’s iconic Ukrainian Labour Temple and featured as keynote speaker, Edward Schreyer, a former Premier of Manitoba and Governor-General of Canada.
