Hi Paul,
I admire your dedication to the peace movement and I encourage you to continue.
There is some information regarding the Middle East conflict that I learned today that wish to share with you. I did not realize how complicated the situation was until I read these web sites:
http://www.palestinefacts.org/pf_mandate_grand_mufti.php
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mohammad_Amin_al-Husayni
http://www.twf.org/News/Y1998/JewsArabs.html
With Canada, the US, and others taking sides in the conflict, matters are only being made worse. Alternatives to military action need to be found. Money for military operations need to end.
If the money for military operations was terminated and diverted to education, medicine, and infrastructure, the world would be a more humane place in which to live.
I also wish to bring to your attention an American named Greg Mortenson. Greg and his organization have built and are building, and operate hundreds of schools in Pakistan. He only builds schools where the community agrees to educate their girls and women. There is no shortage of demand for his schools. The total capital and operating cost of his schools is a fraction of what the NATO allies are spending in one day. Even Taliban communities have requested one of Greg’s schools and none would dare touch one of his existing schools. Greg is welcome in Pakistan and is able to travel freely. From his book, “Three Cups of Tea”, I would guess that he is far more effective in bringing peace, understanding, and change permanently to the region than any military force or its trainers.
Canadians and Americans need alternatives to the military option. Greg Mortenson and his organization are a feasible alternative and have a proven track record. They would be good for Afghanistan.
Yes, I am conveying that message all who will listen/read.
Regards,
Bob
Paul,
How do you put up with character called aesop? He’s a dead ender for the hasbara project. Never got the memo, that the old lies of Israel’s supporters no longer works. Still stuck with the old script. Next time pass him on to me. terrencetocker88@gmail.com.
Keep up the good work. We need peace but to get there we need the truth. Mendacious characters such as aesop need to be shut down.
Cheers
Thank you for your words of support, Tanzan11.
Regarding aesop and others who have similar outlooks, I think it is important to encourage a frank exchange of views. While I find the pro-zionist worldview annoying, it is widespread and worthy of debate.
Ironically, advocating the suppression of ideas we don’t agree with is the very same tactic employed by those who would label criticism of Israeli policy as hate speech. To favour shutting down ideas we oppose is to imperil democracy.
I encourage civil exchanges of opinions and facts and allow folks who visit here to draw their own conclusions. I realize that civility and principled debate (as opposed to shouting matches) are in short supply these days, but I think they are preconditions for building a free society.
Thanks for dropping in. Keep on strugglin’.

“We need peace but to get there we need the truth.”[tz11]
What truth? Who’s truth? Every person carries their own truth in their head. Those who do not do an instant boil, when they think that someone is trying to challenge their world view, might consider something (other than that dream or nightmare which is their reality) as a possibility, as soon as they detach their ego from the facts.
YOU spoke of civility, and blocked a very common expletive p###k, while allowing teezee’s ” s#d off”, with its reference to s#d#my.
It’s tough being a WebMaster, eh?
Hi Aesop. I guess Truth is in the eye of the beholder, which makes it as elusive as ever. Still, we keep trying as best we can, don’t we?
Sorry you’re offended by tz11′s invitation to “sod off.” It was vulgar, though not nearly as bad as a comment of his that I deleted.
One cannot please everyone, and I don’t intend to try. As an old friend of mine once observed: “Compulsory consistency is the hobgoblin of small minds.”
For what it’s worth, I won’t tell you, or anyone else, to sod off. I may edit you, or delete you, or respond as the spirit moves. But I do appreciate it when folks take the time and thought to leave behind a comment, whether I agree with them or not.
Happy New Year, Aesop.
Great website Paul. Please check out my website http://www.canpalnet-ottawa.org which focuses on Palestinian issues as they impact our democracy and basic rights and freedoms right here in Canada.
Please consider putting a link on your site. I don’t think that it is possible to fully understand the decisions that the Harper government makes without understanding the total support that they give to Israel. Unfortunately, the Liberals and even the NDP are also very much under the thumb of the Zionist lobby. Canada is becoming like the US has been for many years – policians must swear loyalty to Israel or they will be destroyed by the lobby.
