For some people surveillance equals security. For example, the Toronto Transit Commission is seeking federal funding for security cameras under the Transit-Secure program (http://tinyurl.com/22c2a7). It's simply assumed that cameras will help, although even the security minded will admit cameras don't really prevent incidents (http://tinyurl.com/yo8h4d). It turns out that cameras aren't that useful as evidence either (http://tinyurl.com/yo9e7c).

I almost got a migraine on the bus to work today where I, innocently looking out the window of course, got 'strobed' by red light cameras going flash wild for some reason. Retina scans?
